Charlotte “Charlie” Serrano, callsign Magpie, is a Sapinish Air Force pilot. Initially an aspiring politician, she chose to fly for the Air Force after personal tragedy struck. She saw combat in both the Belkan War and the Sapinish Civil War before retiring to pursue a political career as she originally intended.

Born as the oldest of five siblings, Charlie quickly assumed a lot of responsibility growing up- especially in light of her parents' financial problems. This ultimately led her to become very protective of the people she cares about.

Though only a child when the dictatorship fell, the influences it had on her early life led to her getting involved in politics at a very young age. Much of her time in high school was devoted to organizing in her local community. Ultimately, this fascination with politics led to her pursuing a Bachelor's degree in political science. Over time, she has since developed a political ideology rooted firmly in her own intrinsic beliefs and experiences.

Shortly after graduating high school, she got married to her high school sweetheart, Lyra Añez. However, tragedy would soon strike two years later when her wife was murdered in a politically motivated attack by a supporter of the previous government.

This eventually led to her joining the Sapin's Army of the Air as a fighter pilot- partly to distract herself from her own grief and partly as a way of personally ensuring that the democratic government- however imperfect it was in her eyes- be preserved.
